The petition below has been circulated in UAW Local 3520. Over 250 members have already signed the petition, but management has cracked down on members just as if it was an organizing drive.
There's nothing that riles management more than an activated workforce. None of the corporations in the US, foreign or domestic, union or non union, want to see workers in the South organized and activated.
We all need a victory at Freightliner in Cleveland, North Carolina.

Better yet, download the petition, print it, and take it into work so other UAW members can sign it too. These five UAW members have been out of work for eight months. On April 5, 2007 the "Freightliner Five" were promised by Jim Coakley, Admistrative Assistant to Vice President General Holifield, and Tim Bressler, the head negotiator, they would have a speedy arbitration within 6-8 weeks. The UAW should be representing them. Instead, they were put on trial and had to hire an attorney.

Unite for Union Strength
We the undersigned appeal to General Holifield to help us resolve our internal strife and bring our terminated union brothers and sister back to work. We believe that Robert Whiteside, Allen Bradley, Franklin Torrence, Glenna Swinford, and David Crisco have always acted in our Local’s interest to the best of their knowledge and experience. If mistakes were made, they were not made out of malice to our union. No union brother or sister should have to face a union trial before their case goes to arbitration. We need unity in our struggle for economic justice and workers’ rights. A victory for one worker is a victory for all workers. Demonstrate the UAW’s strength by reinstating our brothers and sister as full union members and active workers.
We want UAW Local 3520 to be instrumental in the fight to organize the south. With unity we can overcome any obstacle. Show us how to be a fighting union, General Holifield. Lead the way and we will march in your footsteps with pride.
